147. I received no requests from the minister to conduct investigations into ONA nor were there any references from the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission in relation to human rights. The former and current Directors-General and I had several discussions about ONA's activities and the current Director-General kindly agreed to second an ONA officer to my office to assist with the inquiry into the espionage case (see paragraph 25).
