If you think you have a complaint that should be investigated by the IGIS, you may either telephone to discuss your concerns, or put your complaint in writing. There are no fees or charges to pay and no formal procedures to follow in lodging a complaint, although you will normally be expected to set your concerns out in writing, providing sufficient background information to help the IGIS decide what action to take.
In the event that you wish to lodge a complaint with us, you will need to provide your name and contact details if we need to seek further information from you or to allow us to provide you with the results of any inquiry activity undertaken by this office.
We do accept anonymous complaints in some circumstances but you must remember that we are unable to provide feedback to anonymous complainants.
Anyone wishing to lodge a complaint by e-mail is welcome to do so. However, we must point out that email is not a secure means of communication and if a complaint contains sensitive information it will normally be preferable to transmit it by ordinary mail.
